Delkia showcases defence innovation at DSEI 2025 following major Royal Navy contract win

Delkia, a leading UK-based specialist systems integrator for safety-related and mission-critical systems, will showcase its advanced engineering capabilities at DSEI 2025, the world’s premier defence and security exhibition, taking place at ExCeL London from 9–12 September.

The Delkia team will showcase the company’s cutting-edge capabilities in systems integration, digital engineering and technical consultancy across the highly regulated aerospace and maritime sectors. On display will be their first Dragonfly aircraft, Teneral – an experimental, uncrewed emergency response aircraft, which has successfully completed its first phase of flight testing.

This year’s presence at DSEI is particularly significant, following Delkia’s leadership of the Encompass group, a consortium of nine SMEs, in securing a major contract with the UK Ministry of Defence. Part of the Marine Systems Support Transformation (MaST) programme, the contract will deliver technical and post-design services to support the Royal Navy Surface Fleet. The Encompass group will provide innovative, digitally enabled solutions, including design revisions, reverse engineering, and through-life support services such as obsolescence and defect management.

Delkia’s strategic growth in defence is further underscored by a scheduled VIP visit from Bethania Ciocca, Head of Power, Propulsion and Auxiliaries at DE&S, on Tuesday 9 September. Her visit with the team at DSEI reflects the MoD’s interest in Delkia’s contributions to the MaST programme and its broader role in defence transformation.

Kurt Canfield, CEO of Delkia, said:

"Delkia is proud to lead the Encompass group in this transformative contract. It’s a testament to the engineering excellence of our team and partners, and it reinforces our commitment to supporting the UK’s defence capabilities.

“We look forward to engaging with partners, suppliers and customers at DSEI – highlighting our technical capabilities and strengthening our relationships with key stakeholders in UK defence. DSEI offers a vital platform to demonstrate how SMEs are driving innovation and resilience in defence systems.”

Delkia invites defence professionals, procurement leads and industry partners to visit the team at Stand N5-205 to discuss their latest projects and future collaboration opportunities.

Delkia will be exhibiting alongside its sister company SyntheSys Defence Systems, which specialises in tactical data links, secure communications and critical network solutions.

On the DSEI stand will be some of the most senior executives, including:

  • Kurt Canfield, CEO – a Chartered Engineer and Certified Functional Safety Professional, with over 20 years’ experience in functional safety, qualification and certification in the defence sector.

  • Alan Watson, Business Development Director – who brings extensive experience in defence, having worked for BAE Systems for 46 years. Alan spent 17 years working on Typhoon Flight Controls System and was previously Head of Active Vehicle Control for the Dreadnought programme.

  • Paul Blythe, Defence Growth Strategy Director – who served in the Royal Navy for 29 years, culminating in the captaincy of two nuclear submarines and subsequent design roles in submarine projects around the world.

  • Clive Poole, Head of Business Development and Training for SyntheSys Defence Systems – who served in the Royal Air Force for 38 years, holding the role of Aerospace Systems Manager.

Delkia are specialists in the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) domain, offering digital engineering, systems and technical consultancy, systems integration, engineering design, build-to-print, control panel build and complex system support. Based in the North West, close to major customers, the company has manufacturing facilities and offices in Merseyside, Cumbria and Lancashire.

Training Success, DLM/ICO Course Sweden - May 2025

We are happy to share the successful completion of the recent SyntheSys Data Link Manager / Interface Control Officer (DLM/ICO) course, hosted by the Swedish Naval Warfare Centre in Karlskrona, Sweden, from 11–23 May 2025.

The DLM/ICO role is crucial to the Tactical Data Link (TDL) interface, managing both planning and execution functions.

This comprehensive three-week programme brought together military professionals from Nordic countries who delved into TDL planning, building, and managing multi-TDL architectures, while fostering collaborative learning and forging valuable relationships for future endeavours.

Our programme went beyond theory by emphasising practical exercises, simulations, and real-world operational software to actively involve participants. This hands-on approach created a dynamic and collaborative learning environment, ensuring each student gained confidence and a deep understanding of every TDL. The new skills developed prepare individuals to become effective TDL planners, operators, and managers, satisfying tactical information exchange requirements during live operations and exercise/training environments.

The next DLM/ICO course will take place 6–24 October 2025; the location will be advised shortly.
